HDV Video Capture won't come up.

I use firewire for capture from Sony Hc-3 cameras. In the past the capture application has always popped up and worked just fine. But now nothing comes up. I tried loading the capture manually assuming vidcap60.exe is the correct file and it said it could see the camera but the Sony Hc-3 was unrecognized. The thing is HDVSplit recognizes the camera and captures the video without an issue. I reinstalled Vegas both 32 and 64 bit versions and it still didn't work. I have no idea what the issue is.

The video capture 6.0 say the Sony HC-3 Cannot be opened but it does recognize the device. Intiating from Vegas gets nothing - not impressed.

Vidcap60 is only for DV capture. HDV capture is built into Vegas and you should get a dialog when you click on the camera icon to start capture. There you can choose to capture DV or HDV.

That is what I thought but it is not coming up. I push it in the menu or the icon and nothing happens. It doesn't make any difference whether an HDV camera is plugged into the 1394 port or not. And in my case I had previously selected the Alway use HDV as the format option (how do you undo that?).

I would have though a reinstall would correct this but no luck.

It works on Version 10 just fine.

What a minute OK I just Fiqured it out: How STOOOPID OF ME.

It is working ok. I have 4 monitors connect to this PC and it just occurred to me the capture dialog might have accidentally got pushed to the extra monitor I rarely turn on, and that is what it was - oops. I fooled myself.

So as Rosanne Rosannadanna would say in her high scratchy voice "NEVER MIND"!
