Local price claimed to be AUD 295, 40GB disk production cost $0.09.
Claim they can achieve 150GB capacity with 10 layers.

Interesting times indeed.

I would caution on this.

" Versatile Multilayer Disc – VMD, is all set to become the latest video disc standard" That will take about 10 years.

Sure they can read most red laser discs. but anything they write appears to only be read on their equipment. Hardly a standard.

I would be interested in some third party validation tests of their claims.

Additionally, they have zero support for authoring. it was shown at IBC, but didn't seem to warrant much attention.
it's interesting that companies are putting research in to competitors to the two "big guns" but to what avail? Without the big manufacturers behind them...they'll only struggle. Even Nero, with their already-existing hardware/software support, isn't really gaining the traction they thought they'd get, and theirs is a wonderful codec/product.
