HDVSplit

I am unable to get the scene detection application HDVSplit to install on my computer; an error message pops up telling me that the application has failed to start because MFC71.DLL cannot be found. I did locate this dll file in my Paint Shop Pro 9 directory. According to Internet information, this file is adware.

Since I edit on a laptop which does not connect to the Internet, is there any danger in allowing an adware file in? If I download a copy of MFC71.DLL, where should I put it? Alternately, is there another (hopefully free or inexpensive) program which will allow me to do scene detection on my HDV footage?

Actually, MFC71.DLL is the Redistributable Microsoft Foundation Class DLL, it should reside in Windows\System32, it is a Microsoft DLL, and is not Adware.

I am not sure why it is missing from your system. But if you get a copy, put it in Windows\System32

Thank you for the correct information about MFC71.DLL, Bryan - makes a lot more sense than what I saw via Google!
