Hello, It's Me Again

Hey all,

Just tried the Vegas demo and had a couple of questions. I'm gathering from the "Vegas 5-Tell Us What You need" that I'm not crazy and you can't have tempo changes so that one is answered. OK, I really hope they implement that. Seems like Acid is too stripped down for Pop Music comping and Vegas can't handle the tempo changes. Hmmm.

As for names on parts, is there a way to do this currently? I find the track info rack on the left needs to be pulled WAY out in order to see the name of the current tracks in view and if I put it where I feel I have enough room to edit, I can't see by name what I'm looking at. I can see the track number and that's it.

Anybody understand what I mean? Can objects, regions, or whatever Vegas calls them, on the arrange page have dedicated names? Or at least take the track's name?

Thanks,
Bob

Go to 'Options' > 'Preferences' > 'General' . Make sure you check 'Show active take name in events'.

Now before you start recording, give your track a name. It should appear on the waveform after you record.

You beat me to it Sari. I really do think this is an option that should be checked by default, as I would have thought it's something the majority of people confusing. As illustrated, it has the potential to confuse new users.

wilcofan, what resolution is your screen set for? If you feel you don't have enough editing space then you might want to consider bumping your resolution up a notch. This will make everything on the screen a bit smaller so that more "things" can fit.

"wilcofan, what resolution is your screen set for? If you feel you don't have enough..."

I use 1024x768 and can't stand anything less or I'm squinting. It also makes me want a new monitor every 8 months if I go higher since the demand on detail goes up!

Thanks for the suggestion guys, I'm a Samplitude user and like having the track info out of the way. I'll try it with the track names showing in the parts...

Talk to you soon.

P.S. Any feedback from developers on tempo mapping? ETA?

Ahh, much better. And nice that the part name follows the screen. Slick program you got here.

Guys, since you are so helpful and in the know here's one more:

In Acid and Vegas the flashing cursor can be pointed to and exist independent of the song playing cursor (while the app is playing). If you stop and play again the flashing cursor position is where you reset from. Nice.

Here's my problem with Vegas. In Acid this flashing cursor can be controlled by the keycommands Page Up/Page Down, and in Vegas too, in Acid however the cursor can move and still exist independently and let the song cursor keep playing. In Vegas the second you move the flashing cursor with a keycommand the song jumps to your new position. The only way I can find in Vegas to move the flashing cursor (for cuts) is with the mouse. I like with Acid how I can use my jogwheel to move the flashing cursor around with keycommands and still allow the song to keep playing.

Is this just different between the two apps or am I missing someting?
