help, adding blank audio to a track

Hey! I've got a kind of weird question, I just started using Vegas Pro 15 Edit to edit a multitrack audio podcast (think 6 people recording their own audio) and one person screwed up and paused their audio (we were using Audacity to record) while we were recording. It's about 5 minutes, and throws the entire audio out of sync from there, is there any way to add those 5 minutes in when I figure out where that is? Thanks in advance if anyone knows how, I'm new to this program and felt it'd be easier to ask than flail around for days. https://9apps.ooo/

Welcome to the forum.

If you get the missing 5 mins audio, simply add another audio track on Vegas Pro's timeline (R click on the timeline and select 'Insert Audio Track' and add the new audio event in the approximate area of the missing then manually align it with the video to attain lip sync.

There a few other ways of doing this but this way avoids messing with the original audio track assuming that the blank space has no noise.

If you saying that the 5 mins break means that all the following audio is advanced by 5 mins, then you will need to split the audio event (keyboard 's' with the audio event highlighted and the cursor at the point where you want to split) and then shunt the remaining audio event down the timeline 5 mins and then fine tune its placement on the timeline until it is in sync with the video.

If the audio and video events are locked together, then highlight either the affected video or audio (or both) events and hit U (ungroup) in order to unlock the audio from the video. You can always highlight audio and video events via 'G' to regroup them together.
