Help: Cuting and Pasting is slow...

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this. Using Vegas 5 on a machine with 512 kb RAM. Not a lot, but everything works rather well. However, in my current project, I have maybe a hundred or more 10-20 second clips and when I want to move them on the timeline, I copy using ctrl-C and paste using ctrl-V and it takes well over 60 seconds for the paste to occur. One option is to simply drag the clips, but that becomes a hassle on a long timeline. I could understand if everything was proportionally slow, but it's really just when I cut and try to paste...

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Are these DV clips, or are they still photos? Until about a year ago, my computer had 512 MB (I assume you meant MB and not kb) RAM, and I never had a problem. When I got to 500+ events, sometimes there was a short delay.

Whoops- yeah, it is 512 MB and not kb. That would certainly slow things down a bit!

But yes, they are DV clips.
