Do you see an audio track in Vegas?

Sorry, have to ask again, what was the source, (web, dvd, etc). An MPEG file on a DVD may have the audio encoded differently than an MPEG file from the web.

Have you tried reinstalling Vegas?
Either a repair install or maybe a complete uninstall/reinstall.

My guess is the DVD cam file (Mpeg 2) is using an audio format Vegas doesn't support such as AC-3.

Check the properties of the file for the audio stream format.

As Mjhig explained

Your camera captures mpeg which is not good for editing in Vegas.

If you can change the camera settings to capture as PMC or something other than AC3 you could get it to the timeline but editing would not be ideal.

The opinion of many on this forum (including me) is that Vegas is <currently> not suitable for editing stuff captured with DVD Camcorders.

If this is a new camcorder you recently purchased... and if you feel the professional capabilities of Vegas are required for your work... then try to return your DVD camcorder and purchase a Mini-DV format camcorder instead.

There are many prior posts in this forum from people who have purchased DVD Camcorders and met with nothing but problems. In a number of cases those users did return their camcorders.

What i don`t understand that it works fine and i was able to do everything. After i did the system recovery i didn`t hear the audio.Perhaps i delete something, the only thing i can remember was Ulead videostudio. Is it possible that i delete some plug-in?

If I'm not mistaken both Ulead Video Studio and Vegas use the MainConcept MPEG-2 plugin. What happens if you reinstall Ulead Video Studio?

What you can do, if all else fails, is convert the audio in your mpeg file to PCM (.wav) with VirtualDub-MPEG2. Then you can use the .wav file as your audio source in Vegas. Read this guide.

The audio is almost certainly ac3 which Vegas doesn't handle period. You can split the ac3 file out, might need to run it through ac3Fix first and then through BeSweet to convert to .wav. While you're at it you could convert the mpeg-2 file to avi as well, will make editing much easier.
Depending on the make of DVD camcorder I think there's one where you can select ac3 audio or PCM, most likely last time you had recorded PCM (.wav).
ULead's MSP is supposed to be able to edit the stuff straight out of these cameras but I had no success with it, we got rid of the camera.
