You have to set the preview window to match project output/setting....I don't have it open but I think it says "Match pixel output ratio." And the footage might need to be adjusted with the same method - make sure it is set to 16:9 aspect and not 4:3.

Thanks Filmy, but I can't find the preferences of the preview window, it is in a different menu than that of the project properties?

You need to right click on the preview window and select simulate device aspect ratio.

Thanks PAW, but that didn't work. What is the pixel ratio has to do with the template? when selecting the template nothing changes in the settings...

Sorry just realised you shot this with an adaptor.

The media is probably still flagged as 4:3 i.e the cam did not know you had an adaptor fitted.

In the media pool right click on the media and check the aspect ration there.

If you do it in the media pool it should display correctly on any of the events on the tineline that use this clip.

Try this...Right click on the clip (clips) in the timeline and make sure clip properties are set for 16:9 (NTSC DV widescreen = 1.21 something pixel aspect ratio. Frame rate shouldn't matter). Vegas won't do this automatically with material shot through a conversion lens. Set project properties also to 16:9. Then check the "simulate device.." box, which compensates for the computer's square pixels in both 4:3 and 16:9 but will slow the program down slightly. The material should look now correct on your computer, but will still look squeezed on the external monitor unless it is a 16:9 monitor.

Finster a clearer answer than mine, I was assuming the preview ould be to a monitor in 16:9 or 16:9 TV

Thanks Finster, PAW.
Finster, I did what you said and it did work, but do I have to do this with each one of the clips? There is no other way around? Why there are so many templates and all that and vegas can not do it more simply?
Also, I'm getting heavy distortion on the adges when printing to tape letterboxed, what I'm doing wrong?
