I don't know what I've done wrong (I don't burn that many CDs). I've tried three times and get the following error message:

The SFMMCX error has been around for a long time with DVDA versions. AFAIK it is an incompatibility error with 3rd part software Jay. I believe the solutions are to either uninstall the 3rd party software or use another program to burn the folders created by DVDA.

What third party software?

This system hasn't changed since the last time I burned a CD.

Could be Roxio, Nero, or something else. Could be the burner firmware AND the 3rd party software. Was there no change at all since you last burned a CD? New version or Vegas, 3rd party burning software, some other update?

What is "Sonic 3" as indicated in the error message?

I have no third party software that would conflict.

As to Sonic 3... I have no idea what that's referring to.

Have you tried burning with an older version of DVDA? Do you always burn with DVDA?

John

EDIT: Google searched - seems to confirm "conflict" of some sort. Sonic 3 is part of the error message and not referring to anything 3rd party. It is generated by the SF/Sony software itself.

Perhaps a different CD media? Long shot.

Question #1 - No.

Question # 2 - Yes.

Check EDIT on my last post.

No, same media (I buy in bulk).

I've sent Sony TS an e-mail.

Thanks, John!

In addition to trying an older version of DVDA, try lowering the burn speed of the CD.

Jay? How old is the DVR 106? Been reading up about it on the web. Do a search - maybe you'll have some thoughts?

I had to replace my Pioneer DVR 112D - Here's Pioneer on the subject: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/BusinessProducts/Blu-rayDisc+DVDWriters/Important%3A+Notice+Regarding+CD+Read+and+Write+Functionality+in+Certain+Pioneer+Computer+Drive+ModelsMine was "exchanged".[/link]

I've come to the World-weary conclusion that these devices can and sometimes need to be renewed too!

Graham, I really couldn't tell you how old it is. It still burns DVDs without any problems. It burned CDs a few months ago.

I fear you're right. I might have to replace it.

Have you ever tried burning directly from Vegas? That's where I've always burned from and I've never had a problem.
See the option in 'Tools' Have project in timeline, with markers in place. Loop it and burn. I usually just choose 'Disc at once, Audio CD' and it will burn and when finished will ask if you'd like to burn another.
I've never burned one using DVD-A. Not bragging, just never changed my habits.

EDIT: Sorry, I see the title indicates you did burn with Vegas

Well, that's actually a question that hasn't been addressed yet. Is this an audio CD, or a Video CD? If it's an audio CD then it can't be done in DVDA.

Kelly, it's an audio CD, and, no, I wasn't using DVDA. Where that came from I'll never know.
