Help Error Msg on family video

Casual user of Vegas for family & friends. Had used V4, MovieStudio, then upgraded to V8 a month ago. Did a test on a prior 3 min project theu DVD burn and worked fine.

Have a 24 min family video I've worked 3 days on. Gets ~ 1/3 through and crashes. Got message appended below the last time:

Can anyone help please---I'm at a loss and frustrated as I've done 30 min vids before. Have some video footage + 200-300 stills sized to 720x528 at ~200k each so that should be fine.

Thanks---here's the message:

Thanks.

Stills are JPEG at 720x528 and ~200k each

Vids are from my Casio V7 and my Sony mini-DV tape.

I have 2GB of OCZ Memory and have rebooted, no other apps running and now it doesn't kick over to rendering. Just keep building the time: eg what was 25 min at first now shows 18 hrs to go (and building) after running for 45 min, at which point I killed it.

Never had these issues with Movie Studio but presume the V8 files aren't backwardly compatible with MS 6. Thus, I have to figure it out.

Appreciate the help.

i'm no expert, but i think you might find that it's the casio clips that are causing the problem. you can test this quite simply by trying to render without them. if that works, then i would suggest you convert the casio clips somehow - run them through movie studio and render as avi's. they should then play happily in v8...

I'm no expert either but my experience has been that the casio h264 format normally plays out of the box vs the canon mjpeg which I have to convert to get the sound.

These are .mov files as converted via quicktime. They played OK in a 1 min test I had done before the big project. As a further test:

* I loaded 3 min of only .mov files onto the timeline; no jpegs

* Did the Mpeg2 render and then the MS Wave for the audio which technique I had read about in this forum

* Loaded this into DVD Arch 4.5 and it plays fine although I didn't burn the DVD like in prior tests.

I'm really puzzled on this. Now when I try to render the 24 min project it doesn't even start rendering and then stop. It just shows 0% and the time to complete keeps building until I cancel.

Then the program hangs and I have to terminate it with task manager.
