Maybe hitting the 'refresh' button in the DVDA explorer helps?

Oh, Rudi, I don't know what that is. I'm feeling really stupid...
rsp wrote on 10/23/2005, 7:36 AM
In menu 'view' of DVDA make sure 'explorer' is checked - then find the little icon with the 2 arrows or hover the mouse over the icons and find 'refresh' .

DVDA doesn't update automatically when it's open and you render files from Vegas - hitting the 'refresh' button updates the view in that folder

I hit the refresh button and nothing happened. Should I just start over? When the show is rendered, it becomes a windows media file. I'm not sure if that's a part of the problem or not.
rsp wrote on 10/23/2005, 7:57 AM
You'll need to render as mpeg - DVDA doesn't accept windows media files

Thanks for being so patient. I'll give that a try.

No problem - just let us know if that was the problem

I rendered again as MPEG-2, opened the rendered file, Architect launced, and then I got the error message that it wasn't an appropriate file. I tried to refresh as you suggested before...no luck.
rsp wrote on 10/23/2005, 9:41 AM
Was re-reading your first mail where you say "It isn't automatically sent to architect 4"
What do you mean by that and also have you made slideshows this way before?
PuppyDogMom wrote on 10/23/2005, 9:50 AM
Sorry. It's Architect 3.0. With the previous version of vegas, the rendered file was sent to architect where the dvd was actually burned. With what I'm trying to do now on vegas 6.0, I render the slide show, go into dvda, and then can't open, or even find the rendered file. This last rendered file, mpeg2, opened dvda when the rendering was complete, but dvda then said the file was not in an acceptable format.

Yes, I've created slide shows before, very successfully, but with the previous versions (vegas 4.0). This is the first one with the newer version.

Are you using a script or something?"
PuppyDogMom wrote on 10/23/2005, 10:10 AM
I don't know how to use a script, or even what it is.
rsp wrote on 10/23/2005, 10:25 AM
Came across an older thread of you "Coordinating Audio and Video" in which scripts were mentioned. That's why i asked what you meant by "isn't automatically sent" which gave me the impression you were using a script.

Anyway.... when you 'insert media' in DVDA you cannot find the media?
PuppyDogMom wrote on 10/23/2005, 10:32 AM
Correct...
rsp wrote on 10/23/2005, 10:45 AM
And with windows explorer it is in that same folder you search in DVDA?
PuppyDogMom wrote on 10/23/2005, 10:49 AM
Actually, it's nowhere. I can't find the rendered file at all. I go back and look at the path, try to follow that through. It's as if I've rendered the program into a black hole. I just tried to render again, and now I get an error message that says the I don't have the necessary plug-ins unlocked. Man oh man...have I got a mess.
rsp wrote on 10/23/2005, 11:05 AM
For info on registering and activation of plugins you can check Sony's "knowledgebase" on this website
PuppyDogMom wrote on 10/23/2005, 11:21 AM
I'm considering uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Will I lose the slide show I've already created? I've checked the knowledgebase and it suggests unlocking plugins when installing. This is frustrating because rendering before didn't require unlocking plugins. This is new...within the past hour.
rsp wrote on 10/23/2005, 11:39 AM
Wouldn't start with an uninstall - if you haven't unlocked the MPEG plugin before then you might try to do that first.

Also in Vegas see what the 'about' screen of the MPEG plugin says:
( you'll find it from: file, render as, select MPEG2 and after that the 'about' button)
PuppyDogMom wrote on 10/23/2005, 12:34 PM
I've checked for plug-ins (mpeg) and can't fnd any, other than a $99 program. I don't think that's what you're talking about. I did check the knowledge base and did a search but nothing other than the program.
rsp wrote on 10/23/2005, 12:43 PM
Strange - If you own a copy of Vegas + DVDA you don't need to get a seperate MPEG plugin. You only need to register and activate the plugins. So when did you buy Vegas+DVDA? And have you been able to render as MPEG2 untill today?
PuppyDogMom wrote on 10/23/2005, 1:04 PM
I did purchase movie studio with architect and registered both. I just re-rendered and now have a movie in dvda. I'm going to try to burn a dvd and see what happens. I'm now trying to change the title screen, and I'm not having much luck at that either. I feel like I'm monopolizing your time today.

Now I've made a dvd, took it to the tv, put it in the dvd player, and got this message: this disk cannot be played. It's been a long day!

Yeah let's get a break!
