I keep burnin cds with .cda type format. I am trying to
burn .wav format and my cds have .cda files on them, that's
ok for my computers to play but not my home unit. What am I
doing wrong? Thanx for any help given.

i'm pretty sure that when you burn onto a cd it does not burn as .wav.
CD-DA (red book) has it's own data format that uses something called
8 to 14 modulation (EFM). i'll spare you the details, but it is
definitely not .wav. .wav is just a convenient format to burn from
because it stores the audio as PCM data which is how audio data is
represented on an actual cd too. When you put an audio cd into a
computer it recognizes the tracks as .cda because they are cd-da
tracks not wavs. have you tried playing your cd's on a stereo? they
might just work after all.
Hehe, I must a been realy tired man. I read your post when I woke up
(4pm, went to bed at 8am) and put the cd in my home unit--what do ya
know it works. Duh, okay I'm a little slow. Thank you for you
insight, I have worked with cda in the past and never had a problem,
actually I much perfer it, so when this came up I freaked. {=& If it
wasn't for ppl like yourself I might not ever dig myself outa the
holes I dig. hehe thanx

no problem. glad i could help. i study audio engineering at the
University of Miami and take classes in Digital Audio from Ken
Pohlmann. He frickin' wrote the book on the stuff so he teaches us
well. I knew something was strange when i saw the topic.
hoping someone can help me with my problem now....
