use sb live to input band rehearsals via cs tape (ok to SF)
now, want to input track by track acoustic/electric/vocal ROUGH multi track demos
monitored sound comes thru real time, using sb live mixer but when rec enabled, ~100-300ms latency exists depending on how I have adjusted the "user recording latency offset" adjustment...won't work in auto mode either. any ideas?

I don't get your question. You have an SB Live! and expect less than 100 ms latency?

The SBlive is not ASIO compatible, or at least not right out of the box. Therefore, using V 4.0's ASIO drivers will not give you the low latency ASIO is designed to provide (along with increased real-time processing capability, one of the reasons for ASIO in the first place). Further, with the SBLive you are limited to 16 bit 48,000 Hz - in fact, if you use any sample rate other than 48 KHz, you're bound to have even more trouble.

If you have lots of time (and you're brave), you can get ASIO SBLive drivers from www.kxproject.com - they do work and can provide incredibly low latency, but in my experience that came at the expense of system stability. I probably could have gotten it working okay as there is lots of literature available, but still - use at your own risk.

Better yet, go get a nice ASIO compatible 24/96 card and do yourself a favour you'll appreciate for a long time. :)
