Well, we need more info then what you gave us. We need codec, camera, if it works in another program, etc. With the info you gave us, i'd say you don't have the needed codec.

When you highlight the file in Vegas' explorer, you should get a little info blurb at the bottom of the explorer window. It should tell you about both the video and audio streams inside the file. If it only tells you about the audio stream, then you don't have the right codec for the video.

Download VirtualDub from the web. Try to open the file in VirtualDub. It will explain which codec you need for the file, if you don't have the right codec installed.

Codecs are identified by a four-letter code (so-called "fourcc" code). VirtualDub reads the file and tells you about the fourcc code. Gee, I wish Vegas did.........
