Help me troubleshoot render from ASF?

I am working with a client who receives .ASF files from their various locations. These are recorded using a minature button camera. The client uses Vegas Movie Studio 7.0a to render these to MPEG2 for transfer to DVD. My client has had a problem with a few of the .ASFs, all from the same location. The problematic .ASFs won't render all the way through on either of the client's two Vegas Movie Studio PC's, but will render properly on my Vegas 7.0d PC. I am trying to determine what is keeping it from rendering on her PC and would appreciate any insights this group can offer.

THE SPECIFIC PROBLEM:
I place the 1 hour .ASF onto the timeline and begin rendering using the standard "DVD Arcitect NTSC video stream" template. At frame 48242 the render pauses for a couple of minutes. It then resumes but the frame displayed in the preview window is the first frame of the clip. The render completes but when I play the resulting MPEG2 it displays the stationary first frame from 48243 on to the end.

ADDITIONAL INSIGHTS:
1. As I noted, this "problematic" .ASF renders properly on my PC with Vegas 7.0d.

2. I used Microsoft's ASF inspection tool and the clip's properties are exactly the same on either PC.

3. I ran a codec reporting utility and as expected there are a few differences in codecs. But I'm not sure how to use this information. Specifically, how can I find out for sure which codec Vegas and Vegas Movie Studio is using to decode the ASF and encode the MPEG2? I think that would help me troubleshoot if it is, in fact a codec problem. Of course, the fact that all problematic .ASFs have come from the same location makes me wonder how it could be a codec problem.

I look forward to reading any suggestions you can offer.

Thanks,

Jerry
