When I render an MPEG-2 file to AVI the audio goes out of sync. I believe its a problem with the Ligos MPEG Splitter and/or Ligos MPEG Video Decoder - both of these items are installed by VideoFactory 2.0c. I'll tell you how I know this after a little background...
My computer is set-up to run two separate Win 2K operating systems, each on its own separate partition. On OP-SYSTEM 1, the setup is just for VideoFactory and no other applications. On OP-SYSTEM 2, I run everything else. I had to set-up my computer that way because some drivers for my Hauppauge WinTV PVR card prevented Videofactory from working. Videofactory runs fine on OP-SYSTEM 1 (except the MPEG problem of course).
While running OP-SYSTEM 2, I capture television using the WinTV card. The card converts it directly to an MPEG2 file. I can play back the file with no sync problems using MediaPlayer 6.4. MediaPlayer was using the Intervideo MPEG splitter and Intervideo MPEG video decoder (the codecs came with the WinTV card). I found this information by selecting File -->Properties-->Advanced on Mediaplayer.
Now, I boot-up OP-SYSTEM 1.
When I run VF under OP-SYSTEM 1, I can drag the above video into the timeline. When I play the video in VF it starts in sync and then goes out of sync. (This is without trying to edit.) Next, I render the video to an AVI file. The video begins in sync and loses synchronization at the same point. This is true when I playback the AVI file with Mediaplayer 6.4 (while still running OP-SYSTEM 1). Then, I try playing the original MPEG-2 file (Mediaplayer, OP-SYSTEM 1, again) - same exact sync problem. When I check the properties, I find that the Ligos codecs are being used to play the MPEG-2 file.
I realize MPEG-2 wasn't meant for editting. But, I should be able to use VF to at least convert the MPEG-2 to an AVI for editting. I do not have any problem when the source is an AVI.
This problem existed before with VF 1.0 when the Ligos encoders were being used. I was hoping that by using the MainConcept plugin that I would be using a different splitter and decoder than Ligos. Especially, since VF popped-up with a message that says I can use MPEG-2 files as source if I buy access to the plug-in - VERY MISLEADING.
If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it very much!
Thanks!
