Help on Activation Code needed

Wondering wrote on 6/17/2001, 9:33 PM
Hi

I hope this reached the relevant Sonic Foundry dept.
I,ve also sent a similiar email earlier, just to be sure, I,m repeating it over here. (Usually get no response from the service customer dept)

I,m having problem with my Activation Code registration. I,ve just updated my Vegas Video from 2.0d to 2.0g. Upon registration for the MPEG plug-in, an error message "Too many activation code issued" was displayed. How can this be happenning? It was OK in the past.

Now I,m stuck with ongoing projects with Vegas Video.
I need to resolve this urgently, Sonic Foundry.
Do something quick !

Regards

Henry,

I'm emailing you directly to help out with this. I'm not sure why you haven't had requests to CS answered before. They're very on top of things, even though they've got tons of email and calls to go through. You can always get them at customerservice@sonicfoundry.com, or 1-800-577-6642.

Thanks! Lance

Just as I expected, the forum has a better chance of respond.

Still nothing from the customer service. (Oops, there are advertisement coming through though)

Anyway, thanks again. You mentioned that you emailed me, strangely, I,ve received nothing. Do you have my correct email address?

Henry

PS: Wondering who pasted a "Ignore this user" sticker on my post? Is this how SF treat a customer requesting for help?

the ignore this user is for YOU to use to block someone else from your view. Not Vice Versa.

Hi Lance

Thanks for the prompt response even though I was waiting at another email address.

I hope you received my email proper.

Henry, I'm with you on the Customer Support issue. They are content to ignore you if it is an activation code issue.

Lance, I'm surprised that you're surprised. I too had a problem with activation codes and tried to reach customer support more than once. They did not respond EVER. I received auto-responses from the email server saying someone would respond within 36 hours, but to this day, no one responded to me on that issue. After several weeks I posted to this forum and received a response immediately.

Thanks to a helpful person in customer service my faith was restored somewhat, but apparently things haven't changed a bit judging by Henry's experience.

Is it a policy in email support to assume 'activation code issues' only happen to software pirates? I understand piracy is a big problem, but you can't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Ignoring people with 'too many activations' affects a lot of legal owners of the software.

Someone should explain that to the email support department because it is really frustrating.

Anyway, I appreciate the prompt responses I get from THIS forum. Thanks.

Hi Cheese

Glad to know that I,m not alone in this issue. Just for info, they have started liasing with me directly now. Hope it will get the problem solved.

Anyway, I,ve always have high regards for Vegas Video. Their other supporting products; ACID, Sound Forge, Loops, ...etc have also given me much satisfaction until this activation issue came along.

Regardless of what SF is trying to protect, this activation issue has caused great inconvenience to me.
I,m actually in the process of getting the Spicemaster add-ons for Vegas Video, but, because of this issue. I had to put a stop to the purchase immediately.

Should the issue not be resolved in a favourable manner, guess I,ve to give up Vegas Video totally & move on to something else with better support.
