Help on Preparing Material Pre-Burning Process

Grettings to everyone,

I must comment that I'm a user of both Sony Vegas Movie Studio program, version 6.0b and then rendered my material to finish it on the Sony DVD Architect program, version 3.0b. I'm a Windows Vista user, so I had to start edition from a DVD since my camera is not compatible with VISTA.

Everything ran smoothly and well,I'm able to preview the whole finished edition project form my computer with all the menus added, but I'm worried about one fact: when I select the "Make DVD" option and I click on "Prepare", then I have the option to select the folder and I do it so, I get the following message displayed: " The selected folder is not valid. It is either not possible to create the foler or you do not have write access". This worries me,because by reading other topics from the forum,it is not necessary to use Sony DVD Architect to burn the projects but I must prepare the work before I can tranfer them to another burning program, and I'm not allowed to do that now. Can someone please assist me on this? You know its sad to have a finished work and everything set but not able to release it from my computer and it is a video edtion program made for a non-profit organization on my community so it matters to have it done. Thank you in advance!

It sounds as though you may have chosen an illegal folder name, i.e. one that contains characters that are not permitted by Windows, such as a backslash.

You could try creating your folder in Windows Explorer to check this.

Or maybe the folder properties are set to 'Read Only' ?

Have you tried creating a folder with a simple name like Temp using Windows Explorer? Instead of actual folders under Documents and Settings, Vista uses quite a few links to folders elsewhere...

I had a similar problem, and found the following in the forum. Hope this helps.

The .dar file is only the DVDArchitect project file containing all your instructions and designs. It is not for burning.

To burn, once you've finished designing your interface, click the "Make DVD" icon at the top. Follow the instructions, which include telling DVDA where to prepare the disc contents. If you use Prepare and Burn, this will do everything for you. If you select Prepare only, DVDA will write two folders, VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS and these are what are burned to disc, by either DVDA or any burning program of you choice such as Nero,

Incidentally, I assume you are preparing a Dual Layer project if you have 6.2 Gb.

If not, you need to reduce contents or bitrate to fit onto 4.3Gb disc.
