Help please, DVDA broken

brianw wrote on 7/21/2009, 7:16 AM
DvDA (latest version) just started locking up when I click "Make DVD" all other functions work , set menus, chapters etc but instantly the program locks and reports "not responding". Have to force shut down.
Have reinstalled, tried known good media, very simple short files and so on but no luck. Nothing has changed in the computer and until now DVDA 5.0b has been working perfectly for months.
TIA, Brian

Can you "prepare" the DVD and then burn with other software?

Nothing has changed in the computer

If your DVD burner is ok and works with other software --

It's very likely that something else has changed. IF you reinstalled DVDA with no effect then I'd suspect the problem is with some conflicting drivers or a problem in the registry. Can you use Windows Restore whereby you roll back the system?

Thanks for the replies. Of course I should have searched the forum first, duh.
It seems a couple of users have had identical probs earlier this year, no one seems to have a solution. No, I cant prepare since the lockup occurs right as I click Prepare DVD. What I have found however is to leave it for ten to twenty minutes it will eventually come good. I agree somethin' has changed :)
I did install Avast anti virus the other day , maybe??? . At least I can use the program, just have to make more cups of coffee.
Thanks and cheers, Brian.

I had endless probs with DVD-A.

Yes, sometimes anti virus and other endless stuff in the system tray just waste resources. I installed "EndItAll". It clears all the bloatware from memory. I always disable the antivirus when I'm rendering.

I have been using DVD-A since 2.0 and other than the glitch several years ago (for which there was an easy fix for non-compatible files for LG DVD players ) I have NEVER burned a coaster - even with complex menus, live video backgrounds, scene selection from Vegas markers and looping audio. And that is after 1000's of discs. I always use TY premium or Ritek. I guess I'm lucky to have gotten the non-defective version of DVD-A.
