Help please! I'm getting nowhere.

Hey guys, here's what's going on. I'm using Vegas 5.0d Build 194, currently putting together a music video for a class. Basically it's a bunch of clips from the X-Men animated series that I'm working with. The clips were originally RealPlayer files, but since Vegas won't accept this format, I converted them with Real7ime Converter to avi files using the MMU (Morgan) codec, which is currently installed on my machine. It is intensely hard to work with these clips. Most of the time at some point during whatever it was I was trying to do, Vegas would just spontaneously shut down or give me an "exception has occurred" message. Every once in awhile Vegas is stable enough for me to work for an extended amount of time, but these times are few and far between. I now have all my clips and music assembled and am in the process of arranging them the way I need them to be, but I can almost never get a solid amount of work done, and often whatever I do get done is negated by the random errors I get. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Vegas, restarting the project over again (and having to find the clips over again), even saving copies of projects and trying to work with them, and nothing is doing the trick. I'm worried this means I'm going to have to reformat all of the original RealPlayer clips over again and start from scratch. If you guys think that is the case, what format would you suggest I use? By the way, here are 2 random samples of the error messages I've been getting:

I can't help you with the problem, sorry. But, i would suggest that your life might be easier if you loaded each clip onto the timeline one at a time and rendered them to new, more "socially acceptable" files, such as DV .avi. Then use these new DV files in your project.

Hey thanks a million, converting to DV worked. That codec must've been whack. You guys are awesome.
