HELP...still have jitter

On a previous thread I mentioned a problem about jitter after printing to dvtape. Looking at the prerendered video, I see some horiz lines on the edges of contrasting moving images (people walking, or objects during camera pan). Trying different settings such as 'reduce interlace flicker' and different interlace options doesn't seem to help. Raw video and previews look good. Also, this doesn't happen for entire video, it is intermittent througout..some clips have it, some are crystal clear. At one point it seemed the more I tried to print to tape, the worst it got.

Some clips will do that. I've had a couple of clips get screwed up permanently with jitter and had to cut them. It has to do with video's properties...I don't think it's just a Vegas thing. I stay away from geometric patterns, very thin parallel lines, etc. as much as possible. That includes backgrounds, clothing, etc.

One other thing to be very wary of thats easily overlooked: Flourescent lighting!

Apart from the shocking color rendition of most of it, it goes on and off either 100 or 120 times a second (depending on where you live). This can produce some nasty strobing effects with video and moving objects that are lit by it. As it drifts relative to the cameras shutter the effect may also seem to come and go.

Well designed lighting in large areas will have each fitting running off alternate phases, they all still flash on and off but at different times so the effect is minimised.

Its not an issue with fluro lights designed for video as they use high frequency control gear, this means they go and and off many times whilst the shutter is open on a video camera.
