HELP V5 Project exception !!!

Help please, I have a project (V5) I have spent hours working on (w/backups) & now when I try to open it, when it gets almost done loading, Vegas throws a "Exception has occurred" error box at me & when I click it, Vegas shuts down. I can't load project. Tryed opening backup copy, does the same thing.
File mod date shows date/time I last worked on it (7/16/04 10:10pm).
Can anyone tell me if Vegas has some kinda trouble shooting mode when opening a project (like safe mode for starting windows), or has somehow may installation of V5 become corrupt.
I already performed a system restore to 7/17/04, same thing occurs still.
Help, Help , Help !!!!

Can you load any of your recent V5 projects?

I only have had 1 other than this one, & it merely was a V4 project I opened in V5 then named it to something else & yes it loads.
I have the error details that the exception is giving me.
The only thing I did on Fri night wasedits to give me a PIP of sorts in particular clip.
I just wish I could back out to my old project, but I when i exited Vegas on Fri, I copied it over the old one at my backup location.

The problem appears to be a .jpg I added to the timeline. I first moved all all the .jpgs till another folder, & when I opened the project, Vegas of course detected missing file, I told it to leave it offline & then the project loaded OK.
Any Ideas as to why a simple photo would cause this ??
I could prolly do w/o photo in this spot of timeline, but it does add to project.
Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere ?

Take that jpeg into a photo app, reduce it's size, rename to something new, and insert. I'll wager it will work fine.
Could be the image was too large, had a corrupted string in it, any number of things..

Are you still using 5.0a? If so, there was a known bug with some image types that was fixed with the 5.0b upgrade.

Problem not fixed for me - I worked on a JPEG file in Photoshop7 that was not even used in any Vegas 5 projects - also no stills are use in the offending project. After working in photoshop the problem occurred on the next launch of vegas.

“Exception has occurred” while loading one particular project in Vegas 5 - the only thing that fixed the problem was to uninstall Photoshop7. Has there been a real fix for the issue? Did I just enacted the only fix myself? Was a hassle to uninstall/reinstall a program every time I need to open that one project.
Thanks for any help.

Try this fix that locutor came up with.

He still has the file available as a fix.
