Help - Vegas keeps crashing

Hi, hoping someone can help solve this as am in the middle of a project for the kids' school and only have a few days to finish it.

I have VMS10. Project was going well but all of a sudden the project file crashes whenever I open it. Now when I open it, it has trouble recongising all the media and as soon as I click on any button (eg to reduce the Preview from Full to Quarter or press the play button) the programme stops responding.

Project has around 50 mpg clips (imported from a Sony camera) in the media bins being referenced in the timeline. Although there is one clip from YouTube on the timeline which is an MP4 - could this be the problem?

Project length around 10 minutes - but I don't think this is the problem as I have a version which is only 5 minutes long which also is now crashing.

The program seems to have created multiple SFK files against each mpg file.

The edited events are mostly untouched but a few clips have FX, some are reversed and some have been pan/cropped.

Part of the problem is that I can't properly open the file to make any changes to the files/settings that might fix the problem.

I'm running Windows 7, have 12Gb of RAM, and an i7 processor @2.8Ghz with 4 cores . The computer is pretty new so the hard drive has loads of space and it's not choked full of useless files or software. While I don't reckon this is the problem, on other projects Vegas has given me a message saying not enough resources to preview even though I have nothing else open.

Any help from the great folks on this forum is most welcome.

Yes, it could. Try renaming the clip and ignoring it when Vegas asks where it is.
Depending on how it was encoded, simply running it through AVIDemux may fix it, or you may have to convert it first. If you could upload the mp4 to Mediafire, we could take a look at it and offer some suggestions.
