Hey All -

Fairly new user, but I know enough to know that when you go to capture video, the "verify tape name" dialog box comes up, and gives you the choices of whether to capture clips, capture from current tape location, or from beginning of the tape. This does not appear for me, and I can't get into manually show up either. Does anybody have advice/solution for this issue? The capture WIll work, I just don't get that dialog box, and I would like to..

Thanks in advance

Try this: I'm not at my editing computer, but I'll see if I can get you to the right place from memory. In VidCap, locate "Preferences" and click on the file management tab. This will give you an opportunity to select the drive and folder name for the project you're capturing for. Once you've done this, you should get the"Verify tape name" box. Look under "File Management" in the Help menu and in the Documentation file, too.

If you don't do this, Vegas assumes that you want to capture from the last tape you used, in the last folder you identified, and just goes ahead and makes the capture. This can make for some interesting searches when you're trying to find a specific clip.

Hope this helps; sorry I can't be more specific but the documentation will point you there.

The dialog box you are describing comes up when you 'start' a Vidcap session and after you have both connected a device and inserted a tape. The only way I know to get the dialog box back once you close it during a capture session is to close and reopen Vidcap.
