Help with capturing

Hey guys,

I am looking for some advice on capturing multiple audio streams and a single video stream. I am capturing video realtime with a Sony DCR-VX2100 camera connected via firewire. This stream contains a audio and video stream.

I would also like to capture a second audio stream at the same time comming from the sound mixing board. This would be comming into via RCA jacks to my SB audigy card. However, I cannot see how this can be done in Vegas at the same time as the audio/video from the firewire is being captured.

Can anyone give me some recommendations / hints.

Thanks,

Actually it can be done. Vegas isn't capturing the firewire stream; VidCap is. While VidCap is busy capturing you can go back to Vegas, arm an empty audio track for recording, and record away. It will happily record whatever is coming in through the Audigy while VidCap is happily doing it's thing.

You'll have to sync manually when you're done. A clapper board would be handy here althoug simply having someone stand in front of the camera and clap loudly would work too. You'll also have to worry about drift. It's possible that the audio recording from the Audigy won't run at precisely so if what you are recording is long enough then they'll get out of sync as time goes on. You may have to tweak the second audio track here and there to keep them in sync.

Cheinworks, out of interest - how do you go about 'tweaking' audio in the situation you outlined?

I have attempted to add the audio from CD over that used in the dancing of my parents wedding anniversary. All but one track is fine. The bad on is either running slightly slower or faster or (so it seems) both. I manage to get, say, a 20 second section ok by velocity nvelop on the CD audio then it's out again. Maybe another 10 or more secs and another tweak, and so on. Is this the way or can it be made easier.

Appreaciate your help here.

Cheers
