Help with creating a jpeg image from an avi file.

I recall reading somewhere that VideoFactory allows one to take any image from an existing video file (I almost exclusively use .avi files) and turn it into a photo (i.e., .JPEG or .gif).

Although I have this ability to do so when I am "capturing" video via VideoFactory, I am curious if there is an easier way to do after I place the video/media file to the event stage.

Thanks.

VF lets you save a frame of video as a jpeg or png file (png files seem sharper). To do it, have your scene on the timeline and the frame you want showing in the Preview window. For a sharper picture, right-click on the frame in the Preview window. A small menu will show up. Make sure 'Display at Project Size' is checked. The picture will expand in the window.

Now click on the Save button at the top right of the Preview window. In the box that pops up, choose a destination for your picture (it will also automatically be included in the Media Pool), choose a file type (.jpg or .png), and give your file a name. Your file will be saved at whatever resolution your project is set at - 720x480 or whatever you've set.
