help with encoding .mov/h.264 file

I have a client that wants a video encoded for the web. The problem is they wan't it with an .mov extension - I've encoded it as a mainconcept avc/aac h.264 file from Vegas and it looks pretty good for the file size, but it has that pesky .mp4 extension.

I've got Quicktime Pro and am using the "export: movie to quicktime movie" and selecting h.264 as the codec but I can't get the file size down at all without huge hit's in quality. Does anyone have any tips on doing this from quicktime pro? I would love to deliver this with an .mov extension but I just can't get it looking good - I'm rendering from a DV .AVI file

Thaks for any help -

o.k. - I got it, I didn't pay close enough attention to the audio - selecting AAC, stereo at 128,000 fixed me all up - had no idea quicktimes default selection would be such a huge audio file.

I sure wish Vegas could just render out to a .mov H.264 file.
