Help with hooking up camera and more

I've done a search, I'm sure I'm not using the right search words and I hope you can help me.

I have Vegas Movie Studio + DVD on my old computer. When I hook up the camera I can edit and use it for videos. I got a new computer (a Dell like the old one) it says it Please Connect a Device, it won't recognze my camera. I can't remember (must be age or something) how I got it to work on the old computer? Seems like I needed to download a driver, but for the life of me I can't find how to do that again?

Any ideas?

Also, the old video I produced (on old computer without a lot of memory these days) was my daughter on her horseback riding drill team. I would like to send a copy to the Grandparents and was wondering if there is anyway I can put an arrow or a dot on her on the video so they can see where she is in the drill?

Thanks for ANY help on both these.

Chris

Hi this is the Vegas forum, the forum for Vegas Movie Studio is here.

Do both of your computers have a firewire card? Does the new Dell have one? Did you use firewire on the old computer.

You can create an arrow or dot by placing a title on a video track above the other video. For a dot you can simply use a period and make it very large. For an arrow, use one of the Windgings or Symbol fonts and find the character you want.

Thanks, thought I was in the right forum, I posted where you directed me.

Thanks again.

(and yes, now that you said that, something about a firewall...dang my memory!)
