help with media manager

I'm using media manager to get me quick access to about 1,000 music beds that I use for promos/spots. They're all in the same directory. It would be simple to just use explorer to move around and select, but it's auto preview is much too slow to go through items fast.

So my library has about 1000 items in it...and as I continue to work on different projects, it seems new audio/video files appear in the media manager, and some of what I had is dumped out.

any way to stop it from adding new things I don't want added, and keep what it was originally created with? Essentially "lock" the library I create?

thank you! Sean

In Preferences> General (near the bottom) you will see 'save media usage relartionships in active media library'. It's on by default, and any time you add something to the timeline, it's added to your current library, so you want to turn that off.

You can also backup the current library and rename it so that at least you have incremental saves.

Items should not be removed from your library.
Maybe get hold of tech support on that.
I didn't think items were automatically added to libraries either, so I guess I'll check that out.

Just in case you weren't aware of the Help file specifically for the Media Manager, it's the question mark icon on the MM window.

Are you using your Media Library folder to "hold" different media for your various projects? That folder should only be used to keep previously tagged media.

Sorry I can't help more than that.

Edit: Thanks for the default setting info Gary, I hadn't noticed that. However, I still can't see why he'd lose media from his Library.

I'm wondering if there's a limit to the number of pieces you can have in there? It's close or over 1000 audio tracks...so if there is a limit, then somehow it's pouring in, and taking out... thank you Gary...I'll go uncheck some boxes.

At the moment, I have 22,000 loops( 16.5Gigs) listed in mine.
So I don't think that is the problem.

D'oh! I just thought of this.
In the Media Library options, MM asks you at what number you want to limit the search results to. The default is 1000.
Your files are probably still there, but you just don't see them anymore as new ones are added.
Try setting the search limit to 2000 to see if all your files show up.
After you set it to 2000, select REFRESH. You should now see all your files.
