Help with moving clips on timeline

I'm just learning Vegas and am working on a project which involves editing out commercials from a three-hour audio file of a radio talk show.

I start with one big clip then split it at the beginning and end of a commercial break. Once the commercial break is separated I delete it which leaves a big hole. At this point, what is the easiest way to move the following clip back to the end of the first clip?

What I have been doing is using the "[" key to positiong the scrubber line at the end of the first clip then I drag the following clip to the left. This works but it's awkward because I have to either reset the timeline zoom or make multiple drags interspaced with multiple scrolls. I was hoping that there was a way to just snap the clip to the left to fill the gap in a single step.

Look under auto-ripple in the online help for a much fuller discussion.

If all you want to do is edit out the commericals it can be deceptively simple with Vegas. Have the entire 3 hours on the timeline. Begin playing with auto ripple on. As they break for commerical just click on "S" on your keyboard at the start and end of each commerical break. That will spilt the three hours into events. Now go back to the start and delete each commerical. All the events to the right of where you delete should jump to fill the gap one right after the other. Fast and simple and you never have to go to the trimmer.

If you trust yourself you can even do it in real time as you play the tape through the first time. Although I wouldn't till you practice a little.

Wow! That was easy! Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm not doing the digitizing, I'm downloading the three-hour blocks as *.wma files from the show's web site. I'm using Vegas to remove the commercials, making tracks out of each segment, and burning to audio CD. Without commercials I fit two hours of the show onto a single 80min audio CD. About 1:18 for two hours worth of the show.
