Just use "Quickfade audio events"
You can specify the fade length in Preferences->Editing

Is there a tutorial showing how to use Quickfade audio events? Sorry I'm brand new to this program.

Can't seem to get this. I have two clips in the timeline, each 10 seconds. When vid one transitions to video 2 I get a loud pop.

I went to options and quickfade audio events and hit play and pop still there. In the preferences I've tried all lengths between 1 ms and 2000ms and still got the pop.

Once I pic quickfade in the option is there something else I need to do? How do you know whether it's on or not?

I'm sorry, I spoke too quickly. The quickfade option works for splitting or trimming events.

The problem you are experiencing occurs when audio is cut in the middle of a waveform and butts up against another. If you zoom in on the event edges you will see this.

There are a few ways to overcome this manually, but I will keep digging for an easier method for you.

How can a "transition" be a but cut? I thought, by definition, a "transition" included some overlap.

Brighterside,

The OP is a novice. His reference to a "transition" is nothing more than a butt of two events, not an overlap or crossfade. He is not there yet.

Ive disclosed my novice status. Can you help?
