Help With New Project - format

I have a live performance shot using two camera. The files I have been given were compressed using XD 1080i60. The files were presented to me as MOV files, on a firewire drive.

I cannot see them or import them using XDCAM EX viewer.

I was able to purchase a codec from Calibrated and can view the files in Quicktime. I exported them to MP4 which will import in Vegas 9 but Vegas is continually crashing.

What is the best way to deal with XDCAM MOV files? Since I can use QTPro what would be the best format to export these files to?

Convert them to uncompressed .avi or lagarith or huffyuv .avi files if you have those codecs loaded.

Sure.

I use DNxHD .mov files, so that is also an option, but will require the installation of the codec on both sides, and it won't play smoothly in Vegas. No .mov file will.

So .avi becomes the best choice. You can do uncompressed (I never do this), lagarith (I use this one all the time), huffyuv, or even Cineform if you want to buy it for both the Mac and PC.
