Help with rendering-no audio, no ac3 option.

i have just recently purchased vegas 8 and have experience with past versions of vegas. im trying to render my film with little luck. there are two key problems that i have:

1. i am rendering it as an mpg 2 and there is no audio. i have been reading that you need to render your audio as well, but im unsure how to do that or dont know what template to use. i found that you need to turn it into a ac3?? but i cant find the option to do that under my render as screen.

2. giving up on trying to make it an mpg2, i went the route of making it an avi. it renders with great quality and SOUND, but cuts my movie into 2 files. i have no idea why it is doing that beacuse my film is only 25 min long. (or will dvd archi. know that the 2 files are 1 movie and combine them together)

can somebody please help me with either issue in detail (step by step, what template to use.ect) . any input on this would totally help. thank you for your time

1, There IS an option for AC3 on Vegas 8. It's on the filetype render as screen. You didn't search long enough it seems. ;-)

2. This is because you probably rendered in DV AVI or in Uncompressed AVI, and you have a FAT32 partition instead of NTFS. FAT16 has a limit of 2 GBs per file, and FAT32 has a limit at 4 GBs per file.

Either move to NTFS, or find the AC3 option to export the sound. :)

hi, thanks alot for your help. i am looking under the save as type box in the render screen and am still unable to locate the ac3 option. my options in order are

atrac audio
main concept mpeg
mp3 audio
ogg vorbis

ect. im am lookin in the book at it appears that the ac3 option should be right under the atrac audio option and above the main concept mpg option, but it is not there on my program. do you know why it is not there or where can i find it in the program?

thanks again

The "Dolby Digital AC-3 Studio" option should be just under the ATRAC audio option.

Do you own the full version of VMS Studio or Platinum? If yes, I would suggest re-installing it.

I don't think ac3 shows up unless dvd architect is installed.
