luluTHElab wrote on 4/23/2002, 11:14 AM
I switched from ME to XP.

I have the Roland VM3100pro soundcard (studio pack)... I cannot get more than two
tracks to record at one time... I loaded the XP drivers for the RPC-1 interfacec (card that comes with vm3100pro)..
It won't let me arm more than two tracks.... Anyone know whats going on here?
Does VEGAS 3.0 solve this problem? DO i Have to change my windows XP?

thanks

The Program will NOT let you arm more then 2 of the 8 available channels. The channels have to be part of a stero pair too, 1/2 3/4 5/6 7/8 or it will fail. I haveasked SF MANY times to look at this and still nothing. Pretty lame support for software that I ACTUALLY PAID FOR!

POssibly M-Audio needs to be involved too? They actually write the drivers for the RPC-1 card.

I don't know about Vegas 1.0 but I've been able to arm 8 tracks in Vegas 2 & 3 (I've never needed to go beyond 8 yet). In fact I created a session template just for this to transfer some older ADAT tapes into Vegas. I use a Layla 24 interface. . . works great.

Did you make sure in routing options that you have customize selected?

Vegas 1 ?!? I would look at an update, not to fix your problem necessarily, but for the additional functional developments.

When you go down to select inputs (right-click on the arming button), do you get a submenu of Stereo (with paired inputchannels) and Mono (with individual inputs), or a mixed list (if I recall VV2 correctly).

Can you assign these ?

If I do not check the 'MME-Compatible driver' box on my MOTU 2408/2 driver console, I get the whole device appearing as one pair of inputs - or something like that. I think you should delve deeper into the Rollie driver.

Vegas permits you to arm as many tracks as you like, assuming that your box can keep up with it.

There appears to be a problem with the RCP-1 interface and Vegas. I don't know whether it is our problem or the RCP-1 that has a problem.

I have contacted M-Audio, and we are looking into the problem. As soon as we know anything, I will post the results here.

Have you contacted our tech support directly on this issue?

Which version of Vegas? Vegas will permit you to arm as many tracks as you desire. You do not have to record strickly from stereo pairs either. You can select which port of the pair you want to record from.
