Help with Text

I have been using Vegas for a little while but honestly, text seems to be the most difficult aspect to master in my opinion. Perhaps someone could give me a little help.

All I have is a series of stills with transitions that come on for 12 seconds each. With each of these, I want a simple picture title to fade in at the bottom center of the still, stay visible for 3 or 4 seconds, then fade out. What is the easiest way to accomplish this?
thx.

The text should be on an empty track above the video (for example, stills on track 2 and titles on track 1). Use the Media Generator to drop a text event on track one starting where you want it to be and type in the text you want. Place the cursor on the timeline in the text event so you can see it in the preview window then click on the Placement tab in the Text Generator. Drag the text wherever you want it to be in the frame. Close the text generator. Trim the end of the text event to the length you want. Drag the upper corners of the text even in towards the middle (the cursor will change into a quarter circle with an arrow when you're in the right spot) to create the fades.

All things considered, this is probably easier to do than to describe. ;)

Make sure you drag Text with a transparent background - shown as chequerboard.

If you have a Text event that has a solid background, you can make this transparent by dragging the background colour opacity slider down to zero.

In my opinion there's two major flaws with the current text generator.

1. The default text size when you start is 72 points. Huge.

2. Because of #1 you can't really see to write much without undocking
the window which then is likely to block the timeline you're trying to add text above.

Needs work.
