help with video capture

When I try to import video using a ConvertX AV100U A/V capture box, I get this error:

"The device, <see above>, could not be opened. Please make sure that it is turned on and not being used by any other application or user."

It works fine with other software.
No other programs are using it.
It has no power switch.
I'm the only user on my computer.

Help please.

Video capture boxes typically come with drivers that only work with the supplied software.

It came with WinDVD Creator software, which you'll most likely need to use to capture your video then use VMS for editing.
