I have vv3 with the latest build. I need some help making a vcd. When I make one everything burns properly with no errors. But when I try to play the vcd, WMP9 can't find the file. What I have to do is open D:\cd with my computer select the folder MPEGAV, then open the DAT. file AVSEQ01 with WMP9 then the vcd plays perfectly. I'm a novice at this part of the program. Is there a way to have the vcd open automatically and play in WMP9 without having to find the dat file? I don't have a DVD burner at this time but, I do have the latest version of NERO. What I really want is to be able generate vcd's that people can play easily on there office or home computers. thanks bbb

Windows Media Player isn't set up for playing DVDs & VCDs automatically. The only way to make it play these discs is to do exactly what you're doing. Try the disc in a DVD player and it will probably work ok.

Thanks...I was afraid you'd say that. I'm an actor and I've been trying to find a way of distibuting my reel. Cheaply. And in a way that was universal and especially simple for the average person to watch. I've been using 10 minute VHS tapes, but it cost me three times more to send them, then what they cost. I thought that a vcd would do the trick, there cheap, less expensive to send, and if a person could slap it into their pc or dvd and hit play they would be a great option for me. I guess I need to get a dvd burner. I'm open to any info you might have as to the other opitions that might be available in delivering my content. thanks for your info

All the best

Isn't there an 'auto-run' program that you can use so, when you drop the CD into the computer, the media will start to play on its own?

Go to www.afteraffects.com and Check the programs Visual Composer and Thankyou Composer. This is a software program that works like an installation wizard and walks you thru a Video CD burn in 7 steps that will open automatically. You can download a free trial version to check out. I have the trial version, but have not tried it out yet. Reviews says that it is exactly what you are looking for. Use the VV4 to convert your video to MPEG1 and then use Visual Composer to build the Video CD. It also allows for links to websites and email direct from the CD.

If you are creating this video just for computer usage, you don't need to make a VCD. Just make an MPEG file and burn it to a data disk. You can use the same MPEG settings as VCD if you want, although they aren't the best.

If a client then doubleclicks on the file (in lieu of an autorun) it will open WMP and play.
