I am using a Canon XL2. I shoot in native 16:9 mode 24p.
I start a new project with 960 X 480, progressive scan, 1.2121 Pixel aspect ratio and a frame rate of 24.000. I also set "Full-resolution rendering quality," to best, Motion Blur to Gaussian, and Deinterlace method to none.
When I add a clip to my project, it looks like 640 X 480 video on a 960 X 480 screen.
I click on "properties" for the clip and set it to field order, "none", pixel aspect ratio 1.2121 (NTSC DV Sidescreen) and alpha channel to "none".
If I go back and deselect "Maintain Aspect Ratio", it fills the screen but the quality of the video seems less than it should be.
When I output the video, I choose 23.976, 2-3 3-2 pulldown, NTSC DV Widescreen and deselect "Interleave every _____ seconds.
Am I missing something in all of this?
Any information would be appreciated.
