Darr,

It depends on what you mean by "enhanced". Do you mean VCD's with pretty menus? Multimedia disks with Autorun commands? Something else? I'd recommend you go shuffle around the web looking for a CD burning program like Adaptec CD Creator or something similar. I can't say I use CD burning programs for much else than creating audio CD's, VCD's, and storage, but I've found CD Creator is a simple, stable, and pretty powerful program for its price.

So just do a search for "CD burning software" on Altavista or something like that. Hunt around. Download demos. Etc. Hopefully you'll find what you're looking for.

Best wishes,
Nick LaMartina

I am looking to do audio cds and have a music video right after the audio portion of the disc.They are called enhanced cds in the music industry here,but I am looking to do a simple thing such as,as soon as you put the disc in your pc it will bring up the video or a simple start page to click on the vid to start.
Any ideas?
Some get elaborate with macromedia stuff to build a start up screen.

I am looking for something simple.
Or how bout a cd such as the Vegas tutorial cds?
You put it in and it comes up with menus.
Ideas where to start?
Thank you very much.;-)

To burn the CD itself you can use something as simple as Adaptec's EZ CD Creator. You add your audio tracks to the Audio side, and your program to the Data side.

But to make this work correctly, you need to have a program created that will do what you need to do. Usually created in Flash or Director or some other CD-ROM authoring app.

I have done a number of these. If you want some help or have some specific questions email me directly: rob@hypersound.net

AutoPlay Menu Studio will allow you to create your front menu, but is probably overkill for what you need. It's very easy to use and is quite flexible.

Check it out but beware, Indigo Software makes it and they have very restrictive registration policies. You are allowed 2 installs per month. Then you have to contact them and beg for more. It's a shame, it's a decent program. It'll do what you want easily.

Its truly amazing how unhelpful the hundreds of video editing users are that participate in the forums on this web site. What type of video editing do the majority of you people do? It seems like people are in their own little bubble when it comes to knowing about video editing or the entire spectrum this media covers. Some of you have been doing video editing for many years & are unaware of the newest tecnology for video & computers. If i'm wrong about people not knowing about the newer tech, then speak up when a question is asked. I mean, why partake in a forum if its not a two way street? I just felt I needed to get that monkey off my back. Now your answer question Darr. The software that I see on every enhanced CD after I run the software is Macromedia's Director. I just recently started playing with the software for the purpose of creating my own enhanced CD. However I've know about the software since I've seen enhanced CD. I hope that was the info you were looking for. And sorry about the long speech.

Thanx mmk.
Yes I too have noticed macromedia and own it as well.
I guess I am looking for something a little simplier to get me started.Seems like a lot of tutoring with director to get that far.Eventually I will get into it more.
Great subject though eh?
I have been getting more and more artists asking about enhanced cds,thus my questions.

mm2k:
Long speech aside, Darr implied in this thread that Macromedia would be overkill and yet you come back with Macromedia director. I'm not sure what you are complaining about, three people responded to the question. I would have included more detail if Darr asked for more detail. Sometimes you just need to be pointed in the right direction.

AutoPlay menu studio would be much easier to use than Director to put together a simple front end for an enhanced cd. You might want to look into cross platform compatability if you intend to play your CD's on Macs as well. I can't give advice on that topic.

Another very simple option is to create a web page on the CD and have that automatically open when someone inserts the CD. You can launch videos, have a catalog, and just about anything else using plain old HTML. Just include a simple text file in the root folder of the CD called 'autorun.inf' and paste something like this into it (create it with notepad):

[AutoRun]
OPEN=start.exe

OR to have an html page open:
[AutoRun]
OPEN=index.htm

Whatever is after the OPEN= will open up automatically when the cd is inserted.

AutoPlay Menu Studio handles all that autorun stuff automatically.

Hope it helps!
