HelpPlease !! Vegas 3 crashing AGAIN!!

I need help!! Vegas 3 is crashing on me all of a sudden! I've been mixing a song for 2 days with no problems. Then this afternoon it began stopping either about 4 min into the 10 min song or now even when I open the project. Its doing other weird things with other projects I checked (like strange background colors appearing in the bus meters). I've only got 12 tracks running and very little plug ins (some eq & verb on 3 tracks). I think this might be related to volume envelope issue that I posted on last week (but never heard from SoFo on)!! Help Please!!!

Here's some info that I failed to include in my original post:

System (dedicated DAW) Vegas 3.0a, Acid 3.0, Sound Forge 5. Only Vegas was open with the crashes occured.

Windows 98SE
AMD 1.33 Tbird CPU
Asus A7V266 motherboard
512 meg DDR ram
IBM (4.5 gig) 7200 SCSI system drive
IBM 7200 IDE 40 gig data drive
Layla 24 interface (latest drivers).
