OK, this follows on from my earier posting regarding DVDs not playing in the computer but will play on my STB. I've found the answer although I'm still not sure what the problem was (?) but I thought there might be someone else out there who might benefit from the info.
I was using a bunch of Bulkpaq DVD-R which were writing fine using B's DVD. When I started to write using Architect, the discs seemed to be fine on my Panasonic STB but no computer would recognise them and, after trying 3 STB players in a local shop, I decided that my STB was probably in the minority.
So I changed my writer for a -RW and +RW writer but had the same results.
So I changed to some other disc (-RW) and they worked. So it was the discs after all BUT...
If I record via Architect onto a -RW and use that as a master, I can then use Nero to copy to the Bulkpaq DVDs with no problems. They then play fine. SO the Bulkpaq are not entirely to blame, they just are not compatible with Architect.
My advise after all this: be aware that some makes of DVD may not be compatible with some software, but may be compatible with others.
My head hurts now and it's time for a lie down.
