I am using Heroglyph for my opening titles. Pretty good stuff. Many templates to choose but reading the manual can be amusing ...looks like a direct translation from german language. The support team is helpful though.

Is there another software option to Heroglyph, folks?

Well..there is the built in stuff in vegas...
does more than you might think but yes it has its limits.

I have been using Boris Graffiti for a while (www.borisfx.com)..

I don't love it.. It is pretty powerful but when you get used to working in Vegas (which is pretty intuitive) the boris "plug in" seems very clunky.

I've used WildFX, www.wildform.com, to make some animated titles. It's geared towards website usage but you can export the title creations as uncompressed AVI and bring them into Vegas. They have hundreds of text animations you can try. I did a video not long ago where I needed a bunch of little captions and text popping up on still photos. Wildform proved invaluable for that.

I use Ulead Cool 3D Production Studio for 3D titles. It’s probably not as nice as Boris Graffiti or Heroglyph but its half the price. If I need camera control and shadows I’ll use Cinema 4D CE6 which is 3D modeling application that’s easy to use.

I would like to se something professional looking done with HeroGlyph. All of the examples on their site look 'Cheesy'. They look like cartoons. Titles need to be a lot 'Cleaner' than that. I like well defined lines and shapes on my titles. I like the different textures to show through clearly as the texture they are supposed to be. I don't want Big Puffy Marshmallow Titles. If I were doing something for kids maybe, but not in my everyday editing. Good try Heroglyph, but No Thanks! The VEGAS titler is sooo much better.

I am interested in WildForm though. I've always like the FLASH style titling. The weird thing is that they have Text Effects that move away, zoom, and react to the mouse pointer. I don't see how that would be possible in video. Also I can 't seem to tell whether it's a Plug-In or Stand Alone. Although it seems like a Stand Alone. I would much rather have a Plug-In. It's hard to try and time titles when you have no video or audio to sync it to. I usually like my titling sequence to be Audio Driven.

Some like it hot...some like it cold. The choice is yours.

Lamont Dennis - WildFX is a stand alone. I've tried the demo and it's pretty damn good for flash-style text animation/effects. I'd like to have a registered version. There's also an add-on which gives you another whole bunch of animations/effects or so.

The undo feature will be available in version 2. You may want to contact Prodad at: support@prodad.de

LATEST from Prodad, makers of Heroglyph. The Vegas plug-in will be ready in 2-4 weeks. Version 2 is scheduled to make its appearance in autumn (i.e. autumn in Germany)

2Road,
WildFX looks really impressive. On their site they have a features comparison with the Pro version. It appears to me that you can only create an AVI file by using the Pro version. If that is the case how do you import a title file made in the WildFX(non-Pro version) into Vegas?

Sorry, I should have been clearer before. I AM using WildFX Pro which lets the text effects be saved as uncompressed AVI's (it renders very fast) and then loaded into Vegas. As someone said earlier, because WildFX cannot be used inside Vegas, placement of the titles can be a bit tricky, but I find I can usually hit it pretty close and then use Vegas' awesome Pan/Crop tools to place the text precisely where I want it.
