What do you think of the AG-DVX100 as an amateur sports camera, you know, something
"like" an amateur version of NFL Films. I need a run 'n gun camera that will be
mostly on a tripod with some handheld. Should I be concerned about the 10x zoom?

Will the zoom be good enough to capture 3 to 4 athletes from about 100 feet?

Thanks! And I hope to see you in Toronto for some Vegas training!

Regards,

Alex

I think the AG on a tripod is great for most anything, but unless you can REALLY hold tight and still, it won't work for much high panning stuff. Too much smear. You want FASTER framerates, not slower for this stuff. Yeah, the zoom would work, and there are some good optic adapters if you need more zoom but don't want go to a digital zoom. (why do they even put those on there?)
I'd LOVE to get into Toronto, and working on making that happen.

Thanks SPOT, I take it that when you mean "faster frame rates" you mean stick to
60i rather than 24p, right? So the AG wpuld be a great camera for high speed action at 60i.

Alex

My opinion is it's no better than any other cam in it's price range at the 60i level. In fact, i like the GL2 much better for 60i. IMO.
