Found this clip last night and was really amazed at how much detail this guy pulled from his dvx camera. He won the zombie dvxfest contest they did a little while back. If you don't like zombies or a little blood don't look (not too much blood). The detail is very nice....the outside shots are great (he used 1/150 shutter outside). Not really Vegas related but it is nice to see what results can be achieved with a regular three chipper (and some good color work in post). He used FCP and After Effects but I see no reason this couldn't be done in Vegas.

Edit: in addition to blood and zombies there is a tiny bit of language (full disclosure here)

This is one of many excellent examples I've seen of what can be done. It goes to show that, more often than not, it's the end-user that is the weak link in the chain, and not the tools themselves.

I'll even go so far as to quote Alan Barker: "Perhaps the saddest delusion of all is that buying the latest camcorder and editing program will somehow transform a mouse pusher into a movie maker. Equipment doesn’t make art. Don’t buy equipment before you have a reason to use it. If you have nothing to say - please don’t embarrass yourself by saying it. ...

"Here in California there’s a waiting period for buying a handgun. There should also be one for purchasing a camcorder. It’s usually a self-destructive act of passion. If you find yourself salivating over the B&H catalog, if you spend long hours reading discussion group postings that start out, 'I got my blah blah camcorder today and here are my impressions...,' and if you have no project burning to be made, please - please don’t become another sucker for the DV revolution. Put your money back in your pocket and do something worthwhile with your life."

I couldn't agree with him more.
