hilariously bad luck with V9, AVCHD and windows7

Ok, I know I am running an experimental OS and all my troubles go with the bleeding edge. I just finished building this machine yesterday. There are still boxes on the floor and cable ties hanging out of the case. Aside from the clutter the machine seems perfectly fine.

Win7, V9 64bit. AVCHD will not play or even show up on the timeline. Am I missing something?

Funny enough, when I go to MY SOFTWARE to download V8c it says I cannot connect. So here I am ready to start testing this thing and I am dead in the water.

I guess this small segment of frustrations isn't all that hilarious but taken in context with all the other stupid things that have happened today I am laughing only to keep from crying.

Look at this topic, it may help:

I am thinking perhaps the AVC decoder in Vegas is now super picky about what it can decode.... AVC videos I have made using x264 used to work fine, now they appear in the timeline as a 3 frame clip. However AVC straight from my Sony AVCHD cam works.

Uh, the appearance of videos in the timeline as a "3 frame clip" is by design. It makes loading the media onto the timeline quicker I presume... but this is one of the changes that took place in VP9. I think it can be reversed in the options if it really bugs you.

"I think it can be reversed in the options if it really bugs you."

It can, in preferences.

LOL

This is really quite funny. People are jumping to all sorts of conclusions here. Othersteve is quite correct. The Vegas time line now DEFAULTS to view clips as HEAD picon, CENTER pecon, and TAIL pecon for each clip. You can change it back to "SHOW ALL" in the preferences if you wish. It was done this way so that Vegas can concentrate on other things besides constantly re-drawing all these time line picons.
