HitFilm 2 Express

I've just re-installed HitFilm 2 Express after upgrading my PC and I was pleased to see that it had Movie Studio integration. After installation I opened a MSP project hoping to experiment with HitFilm on one of the clips. I right-clicked the clip and there on the context menu was 'Add HitFilm Effect'. However, when I selected this option there was a period of about 30 seconds of a spinning blue circle then an error message stating 'An error occurred during the current operation. The reason for this error could not be determined'.
I can launch HitFilm from my desktop but there is a problem with MSP integration. Has anyone managed to get HitFilm working from within MSP13?
Thanks in anticipation and season's greetings to all.

Can you be a little more specific about "upgrading" your PC? Is it the same machine with software and/or hardware upgrades? Are you using the same hard drive? What did you upgrade from and to? And did you reinstall of your programs or try to just copy one hard drive's data to another?

All of these things are relevant. A 32-bit operating system is mapped differently than a 64-bit operating system. The program files can fall into different places. Also, when you move your files from one hard drive or computer to another, you should ALWAYS reinstall the programs. Don't just assume that cloning the drive will put everything where it belongs.

So it all depends. But I can certainly vouch for the fact that Movie Studio 13 definitely works with HitFilm and HitFilm Express on both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

Thanks for responding Steve. It's a new PC and I have installed my software from scratch. No copies (except for all my data from my old data drive) and no clones. I had installed HitFilm 2 Express onto my old PC (Windows 7) but I never got around to checking if my version of MSP (12 I think at the time) would integrate with it. I had a play around with it in standalone mode but never got any further.
I finally decided to install it on my new PC (Windows 8.1) and it runs OK standalone. When it was installing I remember a message appearing indicating MSP integration was being set up. However, as I posted, right-clicking on a clip and selecting 'Add HitFilm Effect' returns the error message after about 30 seconds.

I have used HF2 Express and have been amazed at what it can do. Hitfilm FX were included in Movie Studio 13 (not 12), although 12 does seem to have the menu item once you install Hitfilm.

For me, it works (Win 8.1). Did you install Movie Studio first and then Hitfilm? Do you have the latest version of Hitfilm? I think they actually fixed the integration in a later version. My copy that works is 2.0.3010.30403 (64 bit). You can download from your account page from FXHome.

Not sure if this will help Hitfilm Integration

Not sure if this will help either... Hitfilm forum re: integration. One solution may be to check Quicktime and update it. Someone else solved it by updating their OS.

HitFilm 2 Express works just fine in my 64-bit version of SMS 12.

You've got it Mark, thanks. I'd never installed Quicktime as my projects have never needed it. I installed it this morning and now HF2 Express is fully integrated with my MSP13.
Thanks again and Merry Christmas.
