HitFilm Light Flares from Movie Studio 13 Platinum not in 14 Suite?

SavageAyape wrote on 3/11/2017, 1:03 PM

I only began editing video one month ago. I received a free copy of Vegas Movie Studio 13 Platinum when I purchased my Sony FDR-AX100. In January, I traveled on a self-planned mission to Vietnam. I have many hours of video which I am having a lot of fun editing. I liked the idea of the added tools with the suite version, so when I received an offer to purchase Movie Studio 14 Suite at a discount, I took it.

I do not believe the issue I have, has anything to do with my system, but I will give my system details, because I see it is almost always asked for when someone asks a question on the forum. I7-7700HQ, Nvidia GTX1060 6GB, 32gb RAM, Windows 10 pro 64 bit, 256gb Samsung 960 m.2 evo PCIe 3.0 ssd, 1tb Samsung 850 evo ssd.

I liked the HitFilm Light Flares animated in the introduction of my video. When I opened my partially edited video in 14 suite, I received two messages indicating something could not be transferred or opened (I do not recall the exact words used in the error message and I did not understand what it was referring to). I began looking through the video and saw everything was as I had left it from 13 Platinum, except, the HitFilm Light Flares were no longer in my video introduction. I have spent hours trying to duplicate this effect in 14 Suite, but I am almost convinced, that effect can not be duplicated in my new (upgraded) 14 Suite.

Please tell me I'm wrong, and let me know where I can find this fx. ( or tell me I am out of luck ).

You can try to copy the "Hitfilm.ofx.bundle" file from the C:\Program Files\Sony\Movie Studio Platinum 13.0\OFX Video Plug-Ins folder to C:\Program Files\VEGAS\Movie Studio Platinum 14.0\OFX Video Plug-Ins folder. (with admin rights).

Thank you very much. I will try that.

I followed your instructions, which were very precise and clear (Thank you). It worked. You are my new favorite person. 😁

@3POINT - Thanks - that worked for some additional older BCC FX as well.

Hi Mark. I've just upgraded to VMS14 Suite and when I saw this post I was very excited because one of the things I sorely miss in 14 is the BCC Uprez included in MSP13 Suite. I tried your instructions and the effects were included when I opened VMS14, but sadly the clips with the effect applied have the (now infamous) NBFX watermark. Worse still, every clip on the timeline had the watermark. I've had to delete the OFX folders that I copied to rectify the situation. I'm curious as to what I did differently to what you did.

@Jack S - The BCC effects that I added were purchased seperately - they weren't the ones that were included in V13. Having said that, you shouldn't have the NB FX watermarks from a BCC effect. They are different companies. By any chance, do you have both effects (BCC and NB enabled in that clip)?

EricLNZ wrote on 3/12/2017, 5:20 PM

It has worked for my MS13 BCC FX copying over the equivalent folders as with HitFilm. Currently I'm using MS14 Platinum trial. I note with the BCC there is an additional folder and sub folders for Boris FX, Inc in Program Files (X86).

Thanks Mark and Eric. I'll give it another try tomorrow. Maybe I'll just copy over the BCC folders.

Hi Mark. I copied over just the bundle that I thought would be the image restoration bundle (the one with UpRez in it) and it worked. No NBFX watermark. I don't know what I did wrong yesterday but I'm leaving it alone now. I just wanted to use UpRez in VMS14. Thanks again for the tip.

I I do not know if my new problem is related to my question I posted, starting this thread. Yesterday, I opened ms14 and now all my media fx are messed up. Some are there, but in the wrong place. Most show there should be media text, but they are blank. When I attempt to create a new media fx, it is impossible because all the choices are blank. What is happening here?

Make sure you haven't got any text in the Search bar. If the text doesn't match up with any effect, all FX folders will be locked shut. Clear the text and the folders will unlock. I don't know whether this is your problem but it happened to me and because the text in the search bar is light grey on grey, you can miss it.

I opened ms14 again and looked at the search bar. I have nothing typed in there. I also noticed an odd fact this time. The random inclusion of a couple of my media fx text would change during the time I scroll through the movie. Is my movie ruined? I have NOT saved it since I noticed this problem. Could this be due to the copy and paste of the hitfilm effects I added from my ms13 Platinum program? It worked great for one day after I added the fx through copy and paste. If I uninstall the program, do I have to uninstall all the additional programs which came with ms14 suite? This movie is 2 hours long. I have spent a very long time working on it. What do you suggest I do now? By the way, the HitFilm fx I wanted from ms13 still works as it should in ms14. I'm not convinced doing that had anything to do with the media fx being messed up.

I just decided to uninstall Vegas Movie Studio 14 Suite and reinstall it. It changed nothing. I still can not use Vegas Titles and Text. everything else works. This is crazy. Movie Studio 13 Platinum is still on my computer and works fine. I thought reinstalling it would work. Any suggestions?

I see a Hitfilm.ofx.bundle folder with several subfolders but not and individual Hitfilm.ofx.bundle file.
Is it the folder I copy?

EricLNZ wrote on 5/10/2017, 10:34 PM

Yes it's a folder not file.
