HL-DT-ST DVD RAM (internal drive).. HELP!

So yah. I probably didn't check to make sure that DVD architect OR the Surround Sound Plugin Pack even support my writeable DVD drive before I bought them, so now I think I'm screwed. I got my computer through gateway, and I'm not even sure who the manufacturer of the drive is, but the text in the subject bar is what they call it. If anyone has any tips/knowledge about where to go to figure out this problem, could you please help me out? Maybe there are some drivers? Thanks a bunch.

Use DVDA to build to a FOLDER. Then use the burning software that came with the drive to burn the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders to the DVD.

But will that allow me to burn an .ac3 audio file? It's extremely important with what I'm doing that the audio is output in surround sound.

The process of creating the folders will use the AC-3 files and create AC-3 audio for burning on the DVD. I'm not sure I understand your question. The files in the Video_TS will be AC-3 if that is what you specified.
