Horrible screeching noise when DVD finishes

kieranvyas wrote on 7/4/2015, 10:03 AM
I burnt a DVD using DVD Architect Studio 5 and when played, a horrible loud screeching noise proceeds the end of the DVD. I have burnt one with no end action set, and another setting the end action to return to the last menu - both have the same loud screeching noise and remain on a black screen. It sounds as if the disc is seriously malfunctioning and happens as soon as the footage is finished playing! Please help!

Never heard of that before. Sure it's not your media?

Try re-rendering your audio and video again (to separate files of course). Do the files have the same duration? If you play the project in DVD Arch, does it behave itself?
kieranvyas wrote on 7/5/2015, 4:27 PM
Definitely not my media. The audio file plays as it is supposed to, and in DVD Architect Studio it also plays as it is supposed to, returning to the main menu at the end of the film - no screeching noise whatsoever. The horrible noise only occurs on the burnt DVD and occurs every time I burn one.

Try just creating a DVD folder without burning, and use a media player to play it. If OK, burn using say ImgBurn.

Do you hear the noise if you play the DVD on your computer or just on a DVD standalone player?

You need new brake pads.

Try burning an older project that you know worked.

I prepared the DVD folder without burning, played the files in vlc player and the screeching noise is present! So annoying! Any more advice?

Then it has to be something in your project.
Open your editing timeline and mark the beginning and end of the video and then render using the LOOPED section only. It sounds like you have some kind of stray audio and video.

kieranvyas wrote on 7/7/2015, 3:09 AM
Same results using the LOOPED section. I tried the DVD with a different audio file (some music - 48kHz 16bit) and there was no screeching. That would suggest there is something wrong with my original audio file. But there is no audible problem within Premiere Pro nor is there an audible problem in the exported wav file - it's only DVD architect that introduces the problem. Also, to be specific, DVD architect is adding in an extra 15seconds or so of noise to the end of my audio, it isn't overwriting my audio at all

Sounds like Architect is rendering the audio.
Don't do that that. Not knowing the intimate details of your source makes it impossible to troubleshoot.

Render separate, compliant video and audio streams in Vegas. Directions are all over this forum.

kieranvyas wrote on 7/7/2015, 8:36 AM
The audio is compliant - PCM 48kHz 16bit wave file and no recompression message is given when burning the DVD

So the noise is after the video in the 15 seconds that DVDA is adding?

You could try setting the end marker on the DVDA timeline to end with the video. I assume DVDA is setting the end marker 15 seconds after the end of your video. Apparently something is telling DVDA that your video is 15 seconds longer than it really is.
kieranvyas wrote on 7/7/2015, 9:57 AM
It's not linked to the video unfortunately. I tried shortening my audio by exporting it without the last 20mins , then in DVDA when the audio finishes early (but the video is still going) the noise is still there, playing over the video for 15secs.
Former user wrote on 7/7/2015, 10:45 AM
I guess that brings the question, was your audio the same length as your video originally?
kieranvyas wrote on 7/7/2015, 11:00 AM
Yes the audio was exactly the same length as the video originally. But obviously on the burned dvd, or in the prepared folder, the audio was altered and longer with the added noise. (Thank you all for your continued support! Really want to crack this)

I remember having something like this happen once and I keep trying to recall what the circumstance and fix were.
kieranvyas wrote on 7/7/2015, 12:32 PM
Anything else I could try? Maybe any settings I may have got wrong?
Former user wrote on 7/7/2015, 12:34 PM
You could try making your audio an AC3 instead of WAV.

You could take your WAV file to another wav editor and re-render in case the issue is with the premiere file.
musicvid10 wrote on 7/7/2015, 1:18 PM
Silly question:
Are your Project Properties in Architect set to PCM? The default is AC3.

Silly suggestion:
Download MediaInfo, and compare source properties with a wav made in Vegas; also compare with the first big vob file in your prepared folder.
kieranvyas wrote on 7/7/2015, 2:57 PM
Properties are set to PCM. Media info shows the audio as identical. Also tried rerendering using a different editor. :(

Here is a link to download a tiny sample of my audio. It is only 5secs and produces a very short screeching noise when used with DVD architect studio - either burning a DVD or preparing a folder. It would be great if anyone could download it and tell me if they are getting the same problem! (Remember the problem isn't there when previewing in DVDA, only after burning or preparing. THANK YOU!)

Don't know if this is an issue, but with Mediainfo the OVERALL Bitrate does not match the bitrate.
kieranvyas wrote on 7/7/2015, 5:21 PM
Did you try the sample? Do you get the same noise?
Former user wrote on 7/7/2015, 8:10 PM
Have not had a chance. Will try later.
