Perhaps I've misunderstood your question, if you simply create a reference to the original media and change the text, you'll see the change in the original instantly. You won't have to wait for the render to see it.

If you want the text in each media file to be different, you have to choose "Create a new copy of the source media."

I think what he wants to know is when he makes a change, how can you instantly know on the timeline which events will change (referenced to original media) and which won't because they are new copies.

I don't know if there is a way to see this. Perhaps using project media folder to highlight events???

Probably no easy way to see it on the timeline...

- Get the event name, i.e. "Sony Text 123"
- In the Project Media tab, switch to "Detailed" view.
- Locate your event (Sony Text 123) and then see if the "Use" count is > 1.
- If you generally want none of your text events to be used more than once, just scan through the whole list of "Sony Text xxx" items (sort by the "Name" column) and make sure all show Use = 1.

Yeah, I was afraid that was the only way.

Rosebud's "Go to event" extension would probably help too.

Yes, I was wanting to see this in the timeline (or details). I think that I created copies, but after the 78th one, I begin to drop off and am doing wierd stuff. :)

Seems like having details up and watching the "selected" checkbox and watcing the use count might work.

Thank you.
